Recap: Logistics Roundtable

April 18, 2022 / CanCham

The Chair Series of Roundtables resumed with the first meeting of the year on April 8th, 2022 as Cancham proudly organized the Logistics Roundtable via Zoom meeting.

The attendees comprised of members in the logistics industry as well as a Consulate representative. The meeting was of course presided over by the CanCham Chair Mark Ceolin, asking participants to share their experiences of the current challenges and discuss potential solutions.

The hour-long conversation revolved around how the situation in Shanghai is affecting supply lines, namely the uncertainty surrounding the operation of Shanghai’s port, the lack of access to Shanghai consumers and the issues that arise when shipments are delayed or cancelled. Because rules can change quickly (for instance, in the time after a shipment has been sent but before it has arrived), members emphasized the importance of having contingency plans that include alternative suppliers, routes, and ports within China. The session ended with an acknowledgement of the importance of Shanghai as a commercial hub and the hope that circumstances will improve soon.

We would like to thank all the participants and supporters of the CanCham Chair Series of Roundtables. Stay tuned for future sessions and an upcoming report of our 2021 roundtables!
