The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai is proud to announce the nominees for the 2025-2027 Board of Directors. The new CanCham Board of Directors will be elected at the CanCham Annual General Meeting on March 25th, 2025.

Our community and members are grateful to all nominees for putting their name forward. We wish everyone luck in the upcoming election!

Daniel Cheng

Brookfield Asset Management

Bio:

Daniel Cheng is a Managing Partner in Brookfield’s Renewable Power & Transition Group. In this role, he is responsible for building and managing the renewable power business across Asia Pacific, as well as the Head of China for the group. Previously, Mr. Cheng was involved in Brookfield’s renewable power investment activities, primarily in North America. Mr. Cheng holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo. Mr. Cheng is a board member of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.

Reasons for Running:

Having completed an initial term as a board member of CanCham, I believe a renewal of another term will allow be to be more effective and value-add in representing the best interest of Canadian institutions, by levering on the experience and familiarity gained over the past two years. I also believe my exposure to the investment and asset management space both domestically and globally should provide differentiated and valuable insights that could benefit all members of CanCham.


Dominic Desmarais

Liya Solutions Limited

Bio:

Eric is the founder and CEO of altPlus, a Canadian company advancing the use of renewable bamboo materials. With 13 years of experience in China, he leads the development of the entire bamboo ecosystem, from farming to advanced products. Eric is also a council member at the Shanghai Research and Building Institute for wood and bamboo buildings and a frequent presenter on Belt & Road trade opportunities. He represents Canadian business in both public and private sectors, focusing on sustainable technologies and global trade. Originally from a small town in Ontario, Eric offers a unique perspective on international business relations.

Reasons for Running:

I am running for a second term on the CanCham board because I believe my business experience, shaped by my journey from a small town in Ontario to China and now across major global markets, equips me with a unique perspective. I am passionate about enhancing the success of Canadian businesses in China and beyond. My expertise in sustainable technology and international trade, combined with my work in the public and private sectors, will allow me to make valuable contributions to CanCham’s mission of advancing business relations and supporting sustainable development initiatives for Canadian companies.  


Eunice Wang

Bank of Montreal (China) Co. Ltd. Shanghai Branch

Bio:

Eunice Wang is currently the Head of the East China Region of the Private Banking Services of the Bank of Montreal Shanghai Branch. Prior to this, she has over 30 year of international business, wealth management and multicultural banking experience in Shanghai and Vancouver. Her skills mainly lie in marketing expansion, sales, and management.

As a Canadian immigrant, Eunice has experienced many challenges when starting a new life in Canada. Therefore, she is enthusiastic about helping new visitors to Canada, especially with various communication issues that arise in the new cultural environment.

Eunice also served as a member of the board of directors of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce from 2011-2013, and 2017-2018, 2022-2024 as a representative of BMO Shanghai.

Reasons for Running:

As a representative of the Bank of BMO, I have the responsibility and obligation to continue to contribute to this community.


Jenny Fan

Bio:

Ms. Jenny Fan joined Manulife-Sinochem in June 2016. Jenny is responsible for branding & digital marketing, corporate communication, customer experience, CSR, and Government & Corporate Affairs. In 2025, Jenny expanded her role to oversee brand, content and sponsorship in Asia. During these years. Jenny dedicated to enhance MSL brand awareness and uplifting customer experience and supporting business development in many aspects including Manulife-Sinochem MOVE launch, Hongyun legacy launch & 5 year anniversary celebration event, wealth management forum and developed many firsts in MSL, including integrating MOVE with Apple and partnering with NBA. Jenny also partnered with Fudan Development Institute to better understand women’s risk appetites and health & wealth habits. Jenny is the chairperson of Manulife Global Women’s Alliance in China and awarded 2018 Global Star of Manulife. Before MSL she worked at Citibank China in 2007 as Director of Quality & Customer Experience and before that she worked with the Visa Information Service Center for the U.S Embassy and Consulates in China for many years. Jenny holds a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Victoria Canada.

Reasons for Running:

During the past two years. Jenny fully leverage her passion and connection to enhance the reputation and impact of CanCham among the financial industry especially foreign bank/insurance sector, helping to further acceleration and better support Chinese and Canadian community. As the Chair of the Board, she led the team to realize many FIRSTs for CanCham, including the first CllE event in collaboration with various parties as ONE Canada, and the inaugural China Business Impact Awards, a ground-breaking event that celebrated the innovation resilience and excellence of Canadian Chinese and international businesses operating in China. With her endorsement and support, MSL, as a platinum member of the Chamber, has been the main sponsor for CanCham’s marquee events for the past two years. In addition. Jenny actively promotes friendly relationship between Canada and China by working together with partners with Canadian roots to drive CSR efforts in 2020, 2022 and 2024. including ” MSL Act of Kindness” to support EGRC, “Impact Talk” to promote EGRC and partnership with Tim Hortons/IMAX to launch special CSR campaign/event to give back to the local community.


Lin Zhang

Teck Resources Limited

Bio:

Lin Zhang joined Teck Resources Limited in January 2010 and served as Deputy Chief Representative at its Beijing office. In early 2013 Lin set up Teck’s Shanghai office and was appointed Head of Shanghai branch. From mid-2023, Lin was assigned to supervise the operation of Teck Beijing office as well. He is the Director, Marketing, China and responsible for marketing all Teck’s products in the China market. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from Shanghai University of Technology, and a Postgraduate degree in Management Science and Engineering from Shanghai University.

Reasons for Running:

Teck is a leading Canadian resource company with strong connections to China for over 2 decades. Teck has been working well with Chinese business partners to develop the sales of our products and established a well-respected brand in the China market. Teck has seen the great efforts and achievements made by CanCham to promote Canadian interests within the Canadian business community and with its Chinese counterparts. As a responsible miner, one of the leading ESG advocates, a strong and consistent supporter of Sino-Canadian relationship. Teck commits to make its contribution to have a higher participation in this grand initiative.

Mark Ceolin

Red Gate International Inc.

Bio:

Born in Windsor, Ontario, Mark Ceolin has worked in China since 2003. Receiving a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, Mark was a professor in Toronto before coming to Shanghai where he founded his PR/Marketing/Events company, Red Gate International, in 2005. Red Gate operates through its offices in Toronto, Shanghai and Singapore with clients including government, consumer, manufacturing, education and designer brands. Mark is the founding Chairman of CanCham Shanghai and has remained a member of the board and Advisory Council contributing to the Canadian business community since its inception. Mark has received a Governor General’s medal for his contributions to trade and cultural ties between Canada and China.

Reasons for Running:

Given recent developments in international trade relationships and agreements, I would like to assist my community in finding new opportunities during these challenging times. Now, more than ever, we need to rely and build on the positive government, business and person to person relations that I have been a part of building since the Chamber was founded in 2008. Balance, knowledge, continuity and respect for Canadian values, in the context of an incredibly important Chinese business environment, this is what I bring to the table. Let’s do business!

Bio:

Bachelor Degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University and Master Degree from Keio University, major in Accounting & Finance. 

More than 25 years experience in multiple accounting positions, and now is the Director of Finance for Linamar.

I love to work with the CanCham Board members, who are dedicated and open-minded. Their contributions to this chamber and also the society is incredible and I would like to be one of them.

Paul Moysiuk

Bio:

I am a Canadian lawyer and have specialized in providing legal services for Canadian clients in China for 14 years. I obtained my law degree at Western University in Ontario. Prior to establishing my own firm, Moxiu Law, which focuses on providing a full range of services for Canadian businesses in China, I worked for Olympic arbitrator Richard McLaren, Blakes, Cassels & Graydon in Calgary, InterAsia Law Firm in Hong Kong and Zhong Lun Law Firm in Shanghai.

Reasons for Running:

For many years, CanCham had provided a wide range of assistance and value for Moxiu Law and our clients; to give back, I am running for the board to provide legal assistance and advice when needed, to work together with the board on business and member development, assist the board with growth strategies and initiatives to improve and increase Canada-China business, be readily available to assist our members, engage in developing and attending social and business events and for the self-interested reason of continuing to make new professional and personal friendships.


Simon Pierre Turcotte

Shanghai Soucy Rubber Co Ltd

    Bio:

    Simon came to Shanghai in 1998 on a Canada-China scholarship to study the Chinese language at Fudan University followed by a second year of studying at the Nanjing-Hopkins University Center. Coming back to Shanghai, Simon worked on short term contracts for diverse organizations from marketing events, consultancy and for the Canadian Consulate. Subsequently, he joined the Canadian Business Forum as the Manager for 3 years. While managing the business association, he completed an Executive MBA. He then moved to the manufacturing sector, first in sourcing and now as the General Manager of a Canadian owned manufacturing company in Shanghai.

    Reasons for Running:

    It has been a privilege to serve on the Board of the CanCham in Shanghai for the past term, and I am excited to continue my involvement in the Chamber. I am dedicated to promoting events, engaging with both long-term and new members, and bringing a unique perspective on manufacturing in China, which I believe remains a key strength in the region. I look forward to working with my fellow Board members and contributing to the success of the CanCham.

    Bio:

    Been with CPKC for over 20 years, as Chief Rep and M.D. Greater China; two terms of CanCham Board of Director.

    Reasons for Running:

    CPKC is a Platinum Member of CanCham Shanghai, I would love to support CanCham, willing to help promote/protect Canadian community interests, and like to get involved in participating in board meetings, reviewing the progress of board objectives.

    ● Non-Members are not eligible to vote.

    If you are unable to attend CanCham AGM 2025 in person, you may cast your vote in absentia, please kindly inform us at membership@cancham.asia. You may vote through an absentee ballot that will be sent to you. The instructions for voting through the absentee ballot will be attached in that email.

    Please note that only votes cast by the Voting Representative of a Platinum, Corporate, Government & Trade Association or Academy Member will be counted.

    PLEASE NOTE, the DEADLINE for Absentee Ballots is March 24th, 2025, at 18:00 pm CST. All Absentee Ballots received after this time will NOT be counted.
