CanCham Highlight: Meeting with the Canada-China Legislative Association (CACN)

CanCham Shanghai is proud to highlight its recent engagement in advancing high-level Canada-China dialogue, both in Canada and in China.

On December 3, 2025, CanCham Chair, Dr. Mark Ceolin, took part in a dinner discussion with the Canada-China Legislative Association (CACN) at the Rideau Club in Ottawa. The evening brought together a distinguished group of participants, including the Honourable Clément Gignac, Senator and Co-Chair of the Canada-China Legislative Association, and Zoe Royer, Member of Parliament and Co-Chair of the Canada-China Legislative Association, as well as the Chinese Ambassador to Canada H.E. Wang Di.

On March 18, 2026, CanCham Shanghai was invited to host a business roundtable on the occasion of the Canada-China Legislative Association’s delegation annual visit to China. With support from the Canadian Consulate in Shanghai, the meeting brought together forward-looking expert, in-market perspectives, including senior members of our business community from a diverse group of sectors.

The meeting was attended by the Honourable Clément Gignac, Senator and Co-Chair of the Canada-China Legislative Association, and Zoe Royer, Member of Parliament and Co-Chair of the Canada-China Legislative Association, accompanied by the Association’s Advisor, Alexia Lagacé-Roy.

CanCham Shanghai representatives included Bank of Montreal (China), Brookfield Asset Management, Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railway, Linamar Asia Pacific Group, Red Gate International, Shanghai Soucy Rubber, Shanghai Community International School, and CanCham Shanghai.

The roundtable was joined by Tracy Diehl, Consul General of Canada in Shanghai; Francis Lindsay, Trade Commissioner at the Canadian Consulate in Shanghai; and Janet Lai, Counsellor (Political) at the Canadian Embassy in Beijing.

This was a valuable opportunity to contribute practical, in-market insights to an important bilateral conversation, while also showcasing CanCham Shanghai’s ability to convene the right voices around the table. From Ottawa to Shanghai, these exchanges reflected the Chamber’s commitment to building meaningful connections, facilitating informed discussion, and supporting constructive engagement between Canada and China.
