CanCham is pleased to introduce two new membership categories for the year 2025: Community Membership and Student & Alumni Membership. These additions are designed to offer new ways to engage with the Chamber.
About Student & Alumni Membership:
The Student & Alumni Membership is tailored for current students and graduates of Canadian academic institutions who are looking to connect with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai’s dynamic community. Whether you are building your professional network, exploring career opportunities, or simply engaging in meaningful activities, this membership provides the perfect gateway to a wide range of benefits and resources.
Benefits of Student & Alumni Membership:
- Discounts: Enjoy member pricing for Chamber events, including career development workshops, networking opportunities, and cultural celebrations.
- Networking Opportunities: Connect with industry professionals, peers, and leaders in the Canadian community.

Limitations of Student & Alumni Membership:
- Some events are reserved for professional and corporate members only.
- Student & Alumni Members do not have voting rights in Chamber elections.
- Student & Alumni Members are not eligible to run for the CanCham Board of Directors or join Chamber committees.

> What happens if my academic institution does not renew their CanCham Academic Membership?
Your sponsored student & alumni membership will be paused until your related academic insitution renews its membership, or you pay the standard Student & Alumni fee.
> What if I paid, and my academic institution joined as an Academic Member of CanCham?
A prorated refund will be issued at the time of the academic membership activation (a refund application will be required).
> My related academic insitution is a high school, can I also join as a Student & Alumni Member?
No, the Student & Alumni category is open to students and alumni of universities and post-secondary insitutions.
> My related academic institution is currently an Academic Member of CanCham. How can I apply for the sponsored membership?
The application process will require you to provide a student ID card OR official confirmation of enrollment letter OR proof of diploma as basic proof materials. For the specific membership application process and requirments, please refer to the official website’s membership application page.
