CanCham Members Donation for COVID-19 Relief

March 3, 2020 / CanCham

During this difficult time in China, CanCham member companies actively donated medical materials and money to help fighting the COVID-19 situation. Thanks to Canpotex, Soprema, and EHC Global taking the social responsibility.

Canpotex has donated $25,000 to the Canadian Red Cross COVID-19 relief effort. The donation will be used to support the Red Cross’ partners in China to contain the spread of infection and support people who are most vulnerable.

SOPREMA donated 5200m² of PVC membranes for the construction of the Leishenshan hospital in Wuhan, which was built in 10 days.

As a building construction materials company actively involved in China’s economy and society, SOPREMA had to take its part in fighting the coronavirus epidemic. As soon as the construction of the Leishenshan Hospital was announced, their teams took the initiative to get in touch with the project managers and confirm the need for materials. They managed to produce and deliver 11 tons of waterproofing membranes (valued at 500,000 RMB) to the construction site within two-days’ time, thus meeting the tight deadline.

EHC Global donated N95 masks to Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University. Although it is not known when the epidemic will end, EHC donated part of the reserves to take social responsibility.

EHC’s employees also donated industrial-standard protection suits to the central hospital of Wuhan. The medical staff are reportedly happy to wear them.

Generosity is a well-known value of Canadians, not only back home, but all around the world. In these times of great need in Hubei province due to the COVID-19 outbreak, its time to gather as a nation and give a hand to those in need.
