Calling ESG pioneers and advocates – ESG China Awards

July 22, 2022 / CanCham

Environmental, social and governance (ESG) has moved from being a concept to soft power for corporate sustainability and has become an important measure of a company’s health. Companies that practice and excel in ESG are preferred by the capital market and earn the trust and support of corporate stakeholders.

In order to identify and promote companies, organisations and individuals that have made outstanding contributions and positive impacts in the ESG sector, the BritCham Shanghai launched the first ESG China Awards, open to both local Chinese companies and multinational companies operating in China. The 2022 Awards are supported by the Shanghai United Assets and Equity ExchangeAustCham ShanghaiCanCham Shanghai and Impact Hub Shanghai

Chair of ESG China Awards 2022, Dr Jianzhong Lu, said,

The transition to a green, high-quality and sustainable economic model means comprehensive changes in design, production, operation and management for enterprises, and requires them to create social and environmental value along with economic benefits. These requirements are the framework of ESG evaluation criteria.

ESG can help enterprises develop steadily, promote consensus with stakeholders, and build social trust and social capital for enterprises. For enterprises operating in China, whether domestic or foreign, large or small, they shall recognise that adhering to sustainable development is the way to survive and grow;  ESG helps companies and entrepreneurs explore and practice in a more systematic, in-depth and effective way. The Awards provide a platform for companies to demonstrate their achievements in practising ESG and to honour their ESG-related initiatives, projects, products and services.

We welcome the active participation of Chinese and foreign companies, organisations and individuals who are ESG pioneers and advocates, to jointly promote sustainable development that has a positive impact on the environment and society by demonstrating and sharing ESG best practices.
