Under general supervision, assists in case processing; provides program support to the fully computerized Immigration Section; provides secretarial services to one or more officers; directs relevant temporary staff involved in visa processing issues; and, participates in a system of rotation to perform other duties.

Starting Annual Compensation Package:  Approx. 122,019 RMB (before tax and employee social insurance contributions; Employer share of social insurance contributions and 13th month bonus are paid by the employer on top of the gross salary; compensation is non-negotiable).

Chinese or Canadian citizens residing in China;
Term or indeterminate employees currently working at Canadian Embassy or Consulates in China;
Spouses/dependants of Canadian-Based Staff at Canadian Embassy or Consulates in China.

Short-listed candidates should be able to participate in tests and/or interviews in Shanghai at own expense. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Shanghai at own expense.

Mandatory requirements:

Education:
Graduation from College or University

Language:
Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
Proficiency in Mandarin (reading, writing, speaking)

Experience:
Experience in dealing with the general public;
Demonstrated experience working on a PC in a network environment

Abilities/Skills
Ability to type 30 words per minute;
Ability to write effective business correspondence in Chinese and English

Preferred standing may be given to those candidates who also meet the following:

Language:
Proficiency in French (reading, writing and speaking)

Experience:
Previous work experience at a foreign Mission, Embassy or Consulate
Experience working with airlines or in immigration related field

Knowledge:
Knowledge of Canadian immigration law, policies, procedures and operations

Operational Requirement:
Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice as required;
Able to travel domestically and internationally as required
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid working authorization in China is a condition of your employment at the Embassy or Consulate.

Security / Reliability:
A valid “Reliability Status” security check is required prior to appointment to this position.
