CanCham Board of Directors with the Council of Federation

CanCham Shanghai Hosts The Council of the Federation

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (CanCham Shanghai) hosted a welcome luncheon at the Fairmont Peace Hotel on Monday, September 17, 2012 in honour of Canada’s Premiers and a delegation of over 120 people.

At the luncheon the Premiers of Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Northwest Territories and the Yukon met with local business leaders and representatives of local educational institutions.

5th Annual Maple Leaf Ball

The Financial Services Committee (FSC)

Made up of Chamber members actively involved in the financial services sector, CanCham Shanghai’s newest committee – The Financial Services Committee will provide a platform for members to discuss and share knowledge and ideas about the latest updates regarding China’s financial landscape.

The FSC will be hosting its first panel ” New Central Leadership, New Economic Opportunities?” on October 18th. Speakers include CICC’s Executive Director David Xu, The Bank of Montreal’s Director Lisa Xia and Frank Han of the Blackstone Group. Register for the event here.

Canadians Celebrate Thanksgiving in Shanghai

Canadians and friends of the Chamber celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving on October 8, 2012 at the Big Bamboo.

This Thanksgiving CanCham Shanghai’s Alumni Committee partnered with Community Roots China and successfully raised enough funds to sponsor 2 Yunnan children’s tuition. A big thanks to all of you who helped make this possible.

Yew Chung Celebrates its 80th Anniversary and Organizes the Terry Fox for Cancer Research

Yew Chung International School (YCIS) celebrates its 80th anniversary this year. Starting with the Founder’s Day, over 5,500 students and 1,500 staff members, from all YCIS campuses across Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing, Qingdao on mainland China, and Silicon Valley in the US, will honour the milestone and highlight the school’s spirit of success, achievement and integration.

Terry Fox Run
YCIS will also be holding the annual Terry Fox run on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at their Gubei campus. The 5k run will raise funds for cancer patients at the Ruijin Hospital.
