Mission Administration Officer, Canadian Consulate General in Chongqing

The Consulate General of Canada in Chongqing is part of a worldwide network of Canadian missions abroad, which provides key services to Canada and Canadians in a timely, cost-effective manner.

Under the direction of the Consul General, the Mission Administrative Officer will need to be a bright, articulate, hard-working individual who manages financial and budgeting activities; manages operation of the mission; provides human resources services for missiona��s locally-engaged staff and Canada-based staff; administers property and material activities; provides consular services to Canadian citizens; supervises administrative and consular assistants; and performs other duties as required.

Location: Chongqing
Area of Selection:

  • Chinese or Canadian citizens residing in China;
  • Term or indeterminate employees currently working at Canadian Embassy or Consulates in China; and,
  • Spouses/dependants of Canadian-Based Staff at Canadian Embassy or Consulates in China.
  • Short-listed candidates should be able to participate in tests and/or interviews in Chongqing at own expense. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Chongqing at own expense.

Mandatory requirements:A�


Bachelora��s degree or above from a recognized university preferably with a major related to business administration, finance, commerce, or international trade or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.


  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking);
  • Proficiency in Mandarin (reading, writing and speaking).


  • Significant experience with general administrative duties (including budgeting and HR processes);
  • Significant experience in leading/coordinating projects;
  • Significant experience in dealing with client service (internal and/or external clients);
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising staff.


  • Knowledge of office operations;
  • Knowledge of general budgeting and forecasting;
  • Basic knowledge of the Chinese Labor Law and regulations.


  • Ability to write effective business correspondence and reports in English;
  • Proficiency at using computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

Proficiency in French (reading, writing, speaking).


  • Experience working in diplomatic missions or other international organizations;
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.


  • Knowledge of international diplomatic protocols;
  • Knowledge of Canada.

Operational Requirement:

  • Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice as required;
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally as required;
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid working authorization in China is a condition of your employment at the Embassy or Consulates.
