University of Waterloo
The University of Waterloo (UW) is a public research university with a main campus in Waterloo, Ontario. The institution was established on 1 July 1957 as the Waterloo College Associate Faculties, a semi-autonomous entity of Waterloo College, then an affiliate of the University of Western Ontario.
The university is co-educational, and as of 2016 has 30,600 undergraduate and 5,300 postgraduate students. Alumni and former students of the university can be found across Canada and in over 140 countries. From 2011 to 2013, UW has been ranked the third among the comprehensive universities in Canada and one of the best university in North America per Maclean’s Magazine.
