Area of Selection:

  • Chinese or Canadian citizens residing in China;
  • Term or indeterminate employees currently working at Canadian Embassy or Consulates in China; and,
  • Spouses/dependants of Canadian-Based Staff at Canadian Embassy or Consulates in China.
  • Short-listed candidates should be able to participate in tests and/or interviews in Shanghai at own expense. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Shanghai at own expense.

Summary of duties:

Reporting to the Management and Consular Officer (MCO), supervises and directs the overall logistics operation of the Consulate General: coordinate all incoming/outgoing shipment of the Consulate, including the diplomatic mail, liaison with local authorities, including customs, airport and moving companies; manages and coordinates logistical arrangements for official visits; provides administrative assistance to the MCO; acts as temporary aid to other area administrative duties, including Property and Material, HR, and Consular; and performs other duties as required.

Duties will involve liaison with the HOMa��s office, Programme Managers and Officers in the Consulate General of Canada, coordination with various Chinese ministries and agencies, and liaison with other Government departments, provincial governments, and other organisations in Canada as well as a wide spectrum of service providers and partner organisations in China (hotels, car rental companies, equipment rental companies, Canadian Chamber of Commerce, etc.).

Mandatory requirements:A�


DegreeA�from a recognized university, OR anA�acceptable equivalent through the combination of education and work experience.


  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Proficiency in Mandarin (reading, writing and speaking)


  • Minimum two year experience with general administrative duties (including logistics/hospitality management)
  • Minimum two year experience in dealing with the public and customer/client service


  • Ability to write effective business correspondence in English and Chinese using Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to perform translation and interpretation from Chinese to English and vice versa.
