Starting annual compensation package: Approx. 107,761 RMB (before tax and employee social insurance contributions; 13th month bonus and employer social insurance contributions are paid on top of the gross salary; salary is non-negotiable) Work location: Shanghai Area of selection: • Chinese or Canadian citizens residing in China; or, • Term or indeterminate employees currently working at Canadian Embassy or Consulates in China; or, • Spouses/dependants of Canadian-Based Staff at Canadian Embassy or Consulates in China. ** This competition is Anticipatory Staffing to create an eligibility list for any potential indeterminate, term and emergency vacancies that may arise within this domain. ** Short-listed candidates should be able to participate in tests and/or interviews in Shanghai at their own expense. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Shanghai at their own expense. Job summary: Under general supervision, provides program and processing support to the fully computerized Immigration Section and assists in case processing of applications assigned to officers; provides clerical services; and participates in a system of rotation to perform other duties. Mandatory requirements: Education: • Successful completion of High School or equivalent. Language: • Proficiency in English (reading, writing and speaking) Experience: • Recent experience working on a PC in a network environment, including experience using mail, word processing and spreadsheet applications • Experience working in a general office environment • Experience in dealing with the general public Abilities/skills: • Ability to analyze information • Ability to take direction and adapt quickly to procedural and technological changes; • Ability to perform well in a demanding office environment Personal suitability: • Adaptability and Flexibility—Willingly alters normal course of action • Client Focus– Responds appropriately • Commitment to Public Confidence – Considers impact of actions on public trust • Effective Interactive Communication – Checks understanding and clarity • Teamwork and Cooperation – Expresses positive attitudes and expectations of team or team members Asset criteria: Preferred standing may be given to those candidates who also meet the following: Education: • University degree is desirable Language: • Proficiency in French (reading, writing and speaking) • Proficiency in Mandarin (reading, writing and speaking) • For external candidates who did not complete a minimum 12 years schooling in Canada or in an English speaking environment, proficiency in English can be evidenced with an IELTS result, general or academic, at minimum band 6 across the four modules of reading, writing, listening, and speaking Experience: • Experience working with Global Case Management System (GCMS) • Experience working in an international environment (Previous employment in Canada or in another country; experience working for a multi-national company or international organization in China) Knowledge: • Knowledge of Canadian immigration policy and procedures Operational Requirement: • Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice as required; • Able to travel domestically and internationally as required • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid working authorization in China is a condition of your employment at the Consulate Security / Reliability: A valid “Reliability Status” security check is required prior to appointment to this position.
