The role of the Business Process Manager (BPM) is to deliver to the business, business process performance in line with the customer experience, value delivery and operating risk profile expectation of the business.

The Business Process Manager takes accountability and responsibility for end to end design of the business processes and works with the business unit to ensure that actual performance meets the business objectives.

Expected outcomes are transformational change in moving the bank to a process driven organization and delivering process performance which will support the Asia Growth Strategy.

The role also has a primary governance responsibility for the end to end processes originating in the business unit as well as oversight and execution of projects, initiatives, and continuous improvement of process work streams in the organization.

ACCOUNTBILITIES

Manage and execute BPM work program for business unit

  • Act as the first line of support for the discussion of statement of work (SOW) for each line of business.
  • BPM is responsible for the following :
  • Govern the initiation of SOWs and scope
  • Overseeing completion of SOW activities
  • Track SOWs to completion
  • Achieve run-rate of delivery of SOWs.
  • SOWs include:
  • Quick build
  • New build
  • Baseline uplift
  • Process improvement
  • Blueprint.

Process performance delivers the customer experience and customer value proposition as required by the business unit
Process designs incorporate requirements to meet required performance measures established by the business.  Ensure that all processes with critical or high customer experience or value process profiles are completed to “fit for purpose” standard.

Operating Risk and Compliance
Process compliance controls, tests and test plans, and operating risk controls, tests and test plans, are embedded into the processes originated in the business. All process with critical or high process profiles are completed to meet Compliance and Operating Risks standards and guidelines

Measured and Managed

  • Process performance is measured in a standard manner across all branches/business centers and uses Group standard measures.
  • As appropriate to the process profile of a particular process, the following are completed on the business process:
  • Define measures & metrics
  • Standardized measures & metrics
  • Incorporate data capture into process design
  • Establish reporting
  • Establish automated dashboard

Business Continuity Planning Linkages

  • Standard business resumption activities are identified at process level and standardised across Asia/China BCP plans. For all tier 1 and tier 2 processes the following are completed on the business process:
  • Identify BCP category
  • Identify BCP scope
  • Activity level resumption plans
  • Process BCP in place

Business Process Management & Control

  • Adherence to strong business process management governance requirements:
  • All processes and related materials held on the business process management repository
  • All local variances also held on the business process management repository
  • Collaborate with business unit in identifying reusable cross business process components and enforce utilization
  • Standard tools & techniques for Asia business process management are used
  • Achievement of quality requirements in the work completed
  • Governance to project progressing according to the standard scope approaches:
  • ‘quick-build’
  • ‘new build’
  • ‘baseline uplift’
  • ‘process improvement’
  • ‘blue-print’.
  • Governance to new product roll outs.
  • Governance on process changes (both in country & group )
  • Provision of impact analysis for changes and taking appropriate plans/actions to ensure relevant consistent up and down stream process changes are effected.

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

At branch level, this job requires the incumbent to interact with the following processes and groups in relation Asia/China businesses:

Internal

  • Internal business partners to consult / advice / service in the delivery of key accountabilities
  • Governance areas such as Corporate Compliance, Legal and Audit to resolve sensitive customer issues and liaise with Corporate Compliance and Legal areas regarding regulatory changes.

External

  • External network groups to understand the competitive landscape, keep abreast of industry developments on business process management
