Business Development / Client Management at International Law Firm

General Job description

This business development / client management position in Shanghai is a great opportunity for law, business or management young professionals or graduates to learn and understand the legal aspects of doing business in China, and to develop your management, legal, communication and social skills within our rapidly growing organization and a professional environment, while having a chance to build your very own business network and client database that will last forever. You will work with bright and eager Chinese lawyers and foreign managers (total 25+), together serving internationally renowned foreign clients.

Main tasks

General Marketing

  • Prepare and Manage Legal Briefing
  • Co-author articles for Legal Briefing and other publications
  • Write articles
  • Prepare annual submissions for various legal directories
  • Manage and update the website’s articles and news items
  • Improve website and other online content
  • Prepare new marketing materials
  • Arrange for and organize seminars or presentations
  • Keep close contact with Chambers of Commerce
  • Submit news and materials to such Chambers

Business Development

  • In Shanghai region: attend events, seminars, trade fairs, Consulate events
  • In Europe-US: build network or direct client relationship through contact by telephone or by email; follow-up with on-site visit during travel
  • Online: follow up on online leads
  • Contribute to discussions on LinkedIn and other internet forums
  • Liaison with Embassies/Consulates

Client Management

  • Content management and strategy
  • Management of leads and clients
  • Cooperation with lawyers to ensure client satisfaction
  • Form bridge between client and Chinese colleagues (i.e. communicate with client directly by phone or email; be in charge of any client request and response)
  • Review English emails / documents drafted by Chinese colleagues

Preferred Background Requirements

  • Experience working in China (preferably consulting foreign companies)
  • Foreign national from Western Europe or Northern America (firm’s key markets)
  • Legal, business or management degree (university or college)
  • Microsoft Office
  • Native or fluent English (speaking and writing)
  • Great discipline to work in a free role with limited instructions
  • Social skills
  • Achiever / self-motivated
  • Easy going

Package

Term: Initial one year contract (aim for very long term)
Starting date: a.s.a.p.
Working hours: 9:30am – 6:30pm
Competitive package: Fixed salary + variable bonus
International business trips
Work permit offered
