Starting Annual Salary: RMB 332,925 (before tax and employee social insurance contributions; 13th month bonus and employer social insurance contributions are paid on top of the gross salary)

This position is open to external applicants residing in China and employees occupying an indeterminate or term position in China Missions who meet all of the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date.

Short-listed candidates should be able to participate in tests and/or interviews in Beijing at own expense. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Beijing at own expense.

Summary of duties:

The EDC Regional Manager, Beijing office works under the general direction of theEDC Chief Representative, Greater China and is responsible for leading/co-leading EDC’s business development programs in the designated area of responsibility. The EDC Regional Manager is also responsible for helping to build and manage the brand image and reputation of EDC as a local player in the market. The incumbent acts as a key liaison with the Head of Mission and works in a complimentary manner with the Trade personnel in the mission.  The EDC Regional Manager is accountable for business results and designated strategic accounts within his/her assignedgeo graphical responsibility as defined by the EDC Chief Representative, Greater China.

 

Mandatory requirements:

 

Education:

·        Master’s degree from a government recognized university, preferably with a degree in commerce or a related area. A combination of education, training and experience is acceptable.

Language:

·        Proficiency in English (reading, writing, listening,speaking)

·        Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (reading,writing, listening, speaking)

Experience:

·        At least six (6) years of recent and relevant experience in financial services industry, either in selling or underwriting. Including a minimum of three (3) years of External Commercial Borrowing (ECB) lending experience

·        Experience in dealing with the public and managing relations with a diverse client base

·        Experience in developing client and stakeholder relationships, and in obtaining, preparing for, and conducting meetings with important external parties, such as clients or influencers

Knowledge:

·        Knowledge of international business (exporting, importing, investment, technology transfer)

·        Knowledge of relevant topics such as Canadian and Chinese trade and investment business environment and practices; major areas and/or sectors of international trade; and/or Chinese government and industry structures, major economic and political issues

Abilities/skills:

·        Demonstrated ability to identify and deliver on new business opportunities

·        Solid influencing, negotiating, relationship management and highly effective presentation skills.

·        Ability to work effectively with relevant EDC teams and exhibit appropriate leadership and teamwork skills.

·        Ability to work autonomously with strong initiative under general guidance of the EDC Chief Representative – Greater China.

·        Ability to coordinate conflicting priorities within tight deadlines and meet work targets.

·        Ability to write concise reports requiring synthesis and thoughtful analysis of data on international trade, financial and macro-economic issues.

·        Ability to identify key account targets and develop and implement account strategies to meet objectives

Organizational Needs:

 

Conditions of Employment

·        Ability to obtain and maintain a valid working authorization in China. Per Chinese regulations, the Embassy /Consulates can only facilitate working visas for Canadian citizens

·        Ability to obtain and maintain a valid “Reliability Status” security clearance

Operational Requirement:

·        Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice as required

·        Able to travel domestically and internationally as required
