Red Gate International and True Legend Hospitality Group together with The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai are hosting Fundraiser for Victims of Fort McMurray Wildfires.

SHANGHAI, CN - This Friday, May 13th, Red Gate International and True Legend Hospitality Group will be working together with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai to host a Fundraiser at Big Bamboo 132 Nanyang Road, Jing’an District, Shanghai, to aid the displaced victims of the wildfires currently ravaging the greater Fort McMurray area in Northern Alberta, Canada.

Approximately 80,000 people have been evacuated from their homes in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada, as the fire has grown to 161,000 hectares and is expected to continue growing to 200,000 hectares in size by the end of this week. (1) With very little notice for evacuation and no timetable for when residents can return to the city, the Canadian Red Cross has stepped in to provide relief assistance for the victims. This relief will come in the form of: immediate emergency assistance and long term support for people and communities as they rebuild and recover, assistance with personal recovery by providing individuals and families cash supplements for food, clothing, medical equipment, childcare, household goods, rent or mortgage payments, utility bills, transportation and occupational items to help people return to work, and to strengthen or reinstate local services such as food banks, youth and seniors’ programs, sport and recreational activities, community centres, and other gathering places. (2)

100% of all proceeds and donations collected by The Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Red Gate International and True Legend and Big Bamboo, will be forwarded on to the Canadian Red Cross to assist displaced Fort McMurray residents. Pledges will be collected throughout the week leading up to the event, and will continue in the weeks following. Payments can be made through the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, as well as cash donations on the night. It is important to note that ALL funds raised by the Red Cross will be matched by the Canadian Government.

On the evening of the fundraiser, there will be Raffle prizes along with a silent auction, and a much larger auction at the end of the evening. Red Gate has arranged for a live call from a few of the victims back in Alberta, which will be on display during the evening. The band “Leaves Over Seas” will be playing several sets throughout the evening. Entry is 150 RMB and with that you recieve a ticket for a drink of your choice.
